At-Home Activity

The 1st grade will be hosting the Citizen of the Month Assembly at the end of May. One child from the 1st grade classes will be chosen to read an essay they have written on the subject of sportsmanship. All students wishing to be considered for reading a speech to the student body at the end of the May need to submit an essay to their teacher by Tuesday, May 22nd. A winning essay/student will be chosen by the 1st grade teachers. Parents of that child will be notified so they can make plans to be at the assembly. This is good public speaking experience and an excellent opportunity for video memories.

One Hundred Fifty-Fifth Day of School

Students will be bringing home their notes for the Science unit this reporting period. They will need to know: seed needs, plant needs, and plant parts, they will not need to know parts of a flower. Knowing the parts of a flower is optional.

Unsatisfactory Notices will also be sent home. Once again, remember that Unsatisfactory Notices have no bearing on passing or failing first grade. Possible retention is a decision made jointly by parents, teacher, and administration and will have been discussed with parents before this point in the year.
